How I work
‘You live long enough, s*** happens.’ While some psychological symptoms require the needs of a specialist, many can be addressed by a generalist. In the generalist practitioner model, these issues are seen as impediments to the life we want. The course of generalist therapy is individually tailored and can be symptom-focused or incorporate more comprehensive approaches. It can be paused at any time and returned to at different points in life when additional support or updated assessments are needed.
In my decades of experience, my clients have ranged from young children, adolescents, and adults at various life stages, to individuals dealing with end-of-life issues. As human beings, we must navigate our day-to-day experiences, the circumstances in our current life, while dealing with our relationships, personal development, and the challenges of the families from which we came.
My approach is primarily interpersonal and existential, but incorporates psychodynamic, behavioral (coaching), neurocognitive, couples/family, and strength-based models as needed. Most importantly, my approach melds with the style of interaction that works best for you.
